A Little Motivation for the New Year!

Published on 6 January 2024 at 20:55

Well this is quite a bit different from my last blog post - where I said I hadn't even had time to think about 2024 and what I wanted it to look like. Funny how when you feel lost, things come together and make you feel whole again.

Kyle got me a new journal for Christmas - it includes daily prompters about your life. The first few days have been all about thinking of who you are and who you want to be. It's been good to dedicate time in the mornings reflecting intentionally on some of those things. It gives me purpose and direction.  It's also my reminder that I need my time in the morning for that and my workouts to be a better human. I am more than what I am or do and am unique in so many ways.

Fast forward to this weekend. Amy Wienands held a women's conference titled You Are More! Now, this was a Saturday from 9am-6pm. I debated back and forth so many times if I could make this work. I'm a Mom of a 1 year old and that's a lot of time away from her. I work all week, the weekends are my time and that's a lot to give up. But I knew I needed it. It's a new year, I'm starting a new job, we're in this new season of parenting and marriage. Little did I know how much I needed it.

I walked away from this conference like many others, feeling motivated and whole again. Filled with purpose and direction and so many good nuggets of practical advice unlocking so many emotions and challenging me to be a better human. But I feel like there's so much more. We reflected on the things that make you unique and were reminded that you are called to be bigger not smaller to fit into other peoples boxes and expectations. We reflected on things like forgiveness, courage, health, adversity and opportunity, gratitude and the power of your words. All of these things together were everything I didn't know I needed. It's funny how it aligned with a lot of the journal entries I've already had to make as well. It's like those helped open my eyes knowing that it would be put to practical use days later. I always love seeing how things come together and work for something bigger.

OK Erin but what the heck does this have to do with keeping it real Mom?! EVERYTHING!! You all know my blog is all about being authentic and open and real. A lot of my posts moving forward are going to continue to be just that. But this was also a reminder that I am more than just a Mom, just a wife, just a marketer, just a friend. I am all of the things that make me unique and it is my calling to use those unique abilities for more, for something much bigger. So I am done with the excuses, the 'I'm too busy', falling into the negativity of not only myself but of others. We need more reminders of this because it's so easy to get caught up in Motherhood and it's ok to be more, to want more. It will make you a better mother in the long run!

So thank you Amy, the panelists, and speakers. This was everything I didn't know I needed today and I am feeling completely refreshed, motivated, and ready to be MORE with or without fear!
