Here we go with another trimester... the fun one with all the energy!!
Ah the second trimester, almost like clock work my nausea went away! I also gained SO much energy, which kicked my butt in gear with getting her nursery done and all of the house projects and registries along with getting to workout again. I feel like this is truly when all of the things happened.
We found out at 13.5 weeks after waiting 2 very long weeks that we were having a girl! (Thank you early genetic testing) Thursday June 9 was the first time we got to hear the heartbeat - at 167 - and it was so cool and reassuring! This was also the day your Dad (and the Dr) said I finally looked like I had a baby bump! (man that in between stage REALLY sucks haha) I borrowed maternity clothes from friends and wore a lot of dresses all summer long! I also fell in LOVE with maternity pants (the over the belly ones are so comfy, can we just keep those around at all times?). My cravings were Little Debbie snacks (oatmeal cream pies, and Christmas tree cakes) and buffalo chicken - which I can't stand after pregnancy or before!
At 13 weeks we did two days of golfing and some canoeing. At 14 weeks we did some more golfing, a friends wedding shower, and got to buy and put together the crib & bassinet pack-n-play. At 15 weeks we got dinner with my Grandpa who was in town and more golf along with a friends wedding. At 16 weeks we went to Clear Lake for the weekend and spent Father's Day at my parents as well as going golfing with the hubby's Dad and brother. We got to celebrate Kyle's first Father's Day! Week 17 we finally started the registry thanks to Gabby! Week 18 I got nails done, more golf, and a trip to Decorah for some hiking and brewery hopping on our way to LaCrosse for the 4th of July weekend! Week 19 was a big week for the hubby as he won the Sunnyside Member Member tournament, we both spent a lot of the weekend golfing and went to Cedar Rapids for Kyle's nephews baseball game. Week 20 was spent playing more golf at the husband & wife golf tournament and watching my brothers softball game. We also got to do a detailed ultrasound for about an hour where we got to see you in more detail - she had the cutest chubby cheeks! Week 21 we got to feel the baby kick on the outside for the first time finally. We also played some more golf at the Damon's Golf Outing. Week 22 was a little boring and scary as the hubby got covid - and I somehow managed to stay away and not get it! We had to miss a friends wedding because of that, but also closed on an air b and b property so I got to work on that and enjoy the pool! Week 23 I got my first prenatal massage (glorious!) and had a work event golf outing. Week 24 we played in the Dan DeLorbe Memorial Golf Outing. Clearly we played a lot of golf - but I was still waiting on the 'I played the best golf when I was preggo' to kick in... it never did!
Reflecting on second trimester we definitely did a LOT. I was happy to have energy back and pretty much no nausea. We also enjoyed following along on the apps to see how big the baby was and what milestones she was hitting. I tried all the pregnancy pillows and ended up hating them all and never using one. The hubby got me a subscription to the bump boxes which was super cute and fun to open each month - highly recommend. I also seeked a LOT of advice from people on what to add to my registries. I used Amazon and Target and actually still continue to add things and buy from it because of the registry discounts! We also set the date for my shower(s) because my calendar is always crazy busy! We did one shower with family (both sides together) and one with friends (just girls, but everyone gathered afterwards to continue the party).
The one piece of advice I would say is best during second trimester is try to get as much done as you can because pretty soon you'll be looking at third trimester... where you have zero energy again, and can't bend over without making weird noises and being super uncomfortable!
